Amy Goodman is the co-founder of G&P Tax Advisors and an EA (Enrolled Agent) with 26 years of experience helping clients navigate the complexities of personal and small business taxes. Growing up as a military brat, Amy lived in the United States, The Netherlands, and Germany, and attended the

University of Maryland, Global Campus

Since settling in St. Louis in 1994, Amy has embraced the city as her home. She is married and the proud parent of three grown children. Amy’s true passion is demystifying taxes for individuals and small business owners, providing expert guidance to ensure her clients feel

confident and at ease throughout the process.

 

What is an Enrolled Agent?

An enrolled agent (EA) is a federally licensed tax practitioner with unlimited rights to represent taxpayers before the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). They earn this credential by passing a comprehensive three-part IRS test on individual and business tax codes or through specific work experience inside the IRS.

 

Key Powers and Rights

• Unlimited representation: Can represent any client on any tax matter—including

audits, collections, and appeals—before any office of the IRS.

• Federal license: Authorized by the U.S. Department of the Treasury to practice

across all U.S. states.

• Tax preparation: File tax returns for individuals, corporations, estates, and trusts.

Qualifications and Rules

• Testing or experience: Must pass the Special Enrollment Examination (SEE) or

show qualified past IRS career experience.

• Background check: Subject to a rigorous federal suitability and tax compliance

evaluation.

• Continuing education: Required to complete 72 hours of professional educationevery three years to maintain active status
